Storyline
The one-liners of a hero who is afraid of being alone is not a thriller or a horror drama, but a romantic story. How this phobia creates a misunderstanding between the hero and his lover is at the heart of the conflict. Such a storyline needed an imaginative narrative and a compelling screenplay.
Aadi Saikumar
Abhay (Aadi) has had a phobia since childhood. If left alone for a few minutes, he is suicidal. One such boy falls in love with a girl named Vaishali (Nuveksha). He is also afraid to tell her about his phobia because he might not understand her. Once upon a time, stories with the protagonist's phobia were a regular feature in Telugu cinema. Recently, the trend has decreased. Aadi Saikumar's 'Atithi Devo Bhava' follows a similar theme. The main character in 'Atithi Devo Bhava' is called Abhay, he is fearless. But there is monophobia, the fear of being alone.

Director Polimera Nageshwar and his writing team have tested our patience with pointless scenes, draggy stories, long drawn out comedy sequences and boring love tracks.
The film starts on a boring note with a protagonist's voice explaining this monophobia problem. Twenty minutes later we are introduced to his issue and then his love trail takes up the rest of the first half. During the break, he finds himself in a situation where he has to spend the whole night without his mother, which causes a lot of problems.
I doubt that anyone can stay awake for the second half of those stale comedies and nonsensical series. Thief's 20-minute comedy sequence featuring Aadi and Saptagiri before the break and Saptagiri's drunk and driving episode in the second half are certainly headache-inducing.
Many scenes prove that the writers don't care how we're going to keep our attention for two hours.
When it comes to performances, Aadi Sai Kumar has put in a daily effort. Newcomer Nuveksha has neither a meaningful role nor talent. Saptagri's loud comedy fails to generate laughter. Rohini is seen in the role of a typical mother.
Among the technicians, Sekhar Chandra performs better with his songs. The cinematography is okay.
Conclusion: 'Athithi Devo Bhava' is another Aadi Saikumar starrer drama that tests our patience and induces sleep.
